Service Above Self

Service above Self Program

“Building Communities and Bridging Continents”

Goal:

Expand Volunteer Service Opportunities and Commitment for local programs embraced by The Rotary Club of Myrtle Beach or supported through Rotary International through use of club recognition points increasing the opportunity to have fun through active hands on involvement

Process

Commit to some level of personal Service-Above-Self hours for the year through sign up sheets offered to members during the first quarter of each Rotary year or at time of joining

Service Hours must be coupled with a minimum contribution to the Foundation of $100 to qualify for recognition of a Paul Harris Award. Service hours are 40 hours for $100; 32 hours for $200; 24 hours for $300; 16 hours for $400 and 10 hours for any other amount.

Service must be completed before end of the Rotary year (June 1) to be counted

Hours can be counted for any Club Sponsored program or administrative area OR community program activities presented at weekly club meetings

Participants must wear Club provided Service-Above-Self” shirt to all activities (outside of club functions) to be recognized as supported by the Rotary Club of Myrtle Beach .  New Rotarians who have not received a Paul Harris award in the past will be given a “yellow” shirt and experienced Rotarians will be given a “blue” shirt.

See Emma Ruth Brittian, Sherry Smith or Gary Bradham to sign up.  This program is for both new Rotary members seeking involvement in activities and a Paul Harris using all available resources:  money contribution and hands on volunteer service (“sweat equity”).  It is also for experienced Rotarians wanting to re-engage with club administration / activities or offer volunteer support to community programs.
